How to use
Songwriting for Trauma Alleviation
A thought or emotion crystalised in song form emerging from a pair of speakers back to your ears does something very interesting. A process develops where one can understand internalised content otherwise confined to a deep space within. Writing a song doesn’t have to be rocket science. There are no rules only tools. Clive Ridgway said – “Having the confidence to confide is a powerful thing. Showing vulnerability and sharing from the heart, makes people care. People open up when they care. Opening up creates opportunity for a new perspective, fresh understanding and ultimately change. It has a transformational effect.” https://cdnv3.loot.co.za/product/head-heart–hands/hmww-7465-g950 So if positive transformation is our vision and change our goal there is only one thing left to do. Just start writing… anyone with or without musical ability can express words originating through thought to paper. These days our minds tend to get distracted, leaving us with a bad habit of not thinking for ourselves anymore. Emotions left unattended finds a way to get expressed. Negative outlets can become normal. Intentionally channelling these emotions and memories into artform creates internal space for a sound mind.
